The real Fiji

They say Crusoe’s Retreat is the ‘real Fiji’, and with good reason – it’s Fiji’s very first resort. The passionate grandparents of Crusoe’s’ third-generation staff set the standard for its warm, welcoming, laid-back nature that guests across the world have come to know and love.

Nestled on Fiji’s famously beautiful Coral Coast and surrounded by lush jungle foliage, towering palm trees and a twinkling sapphire ocean, Crusoe’s Retreat offers an affordable, authentic and utterly enchanting Pacific Island experience. And as of April 2019, it’s completely adults only.

Barefoot romance

With sun-drenched shores, gorgeous views and off-the-beaten-track locale, Crusoe’s is a unique romantic retreat for couples looking to tie the knot, honeymoon or renew their vows.

Whether it’s an intimate exchanging of vows overlooking the sparkling lagoon or a gathering of 60 dancing the night away barefoot on the beach, Crusoe’s wedding experts take the stress out of planning and allow couples to celebrate their love in true Fijian style – think soft ukulele strumming, floral headpieces made by local villagers, fire dancing, traditional meke performances and delicious lovo meals cooked in the earth beneath you. When you’ve finished celebrating, let the sound of the ocean send you to sleep in your private beach bure – a traditionally built bungalow with thatched roofing and rustic wooden floorboards.

Adventure awaits

Prefer scuba diving to candlelit dinners? No worries – Crusoe’s is perfect for adventurous couples and groups of friends.

Adrenalin junkies can hit Pacific Harbour, the adventure capital of Fiji, and try their hand at shark diving, zip lining or white-water-rafting. Crusoe’s staff know the islands inside out, and are always happy to show their guests the best spots to dive into crystal clear waters, swim underneath the purest waterfalls, snorkel alongside tropical wildlife or whizz around the shore by boat.

With a traditional village on the resort’s doorstep, you can’t help but immerse yourself in Fijian culture and customs. Every day there’s a traditional activity on offer – from cooking, weaving classes and language lessons to guided bush hikes where guests can chat with villagers and kick a ball with the kids.

After working up a thirst on your adventures, there’s nothing better than heading home to your secluded slice of paradise to chill out under the stars or take part in a cava session. Taki Beach Bar & Grill – Crusoe’s casual bar and restaurant serving fresh, authentic Fijian cuisine and tasty wood-fired pizza right on the beach – is the perfect spot to enjoy the sunset and watch schools of colourful fish swim by while enjoying a few ice-cold beers, wines or cocktails (taki means ‘one more’ in Fijian, after all).

Crusoe’s is your own private retreat – an idyllic, peaceful space (sans children) to clear the mind and recharge the body through meditation or yoga, adventure, romance, nature, good food and great people. It’s the real Fiji, where you arrive as a guest and leave as a friend.
