Crusoe’s Retreat in Fiji will be sponsoring the International Icon Award at the inaugural New Zealand LGBTI Awards ceremony this November.
The breathtaking resort has thrown its weight behind the LGBTI Awards, in a move which Scott Lee at Crusoe’s Retreat says will be fantastic for everyone involved.
“A significant number of our guests are New Zealanders, and we’re very happy to have this opportunity to show our love and support for New Zealand and the LGBTI community,” says Scott Lee.
The New Zealand LGBTI Awards, the first of their kind in New Zealand, will be held in Auckland at the prestigious Cordis Hotel on November 29th this year.
“The Awards are intended to celebrate members of the rainbow community and have their achievements acknowledged in a very public way,” says Silke Bader, Director and MD of the New Zealand LGBTI Awards.
The International Icon category recognises and honours “both International LGBTI celebrities and their Allies, who have come out in the face of adversity and support the LGBTI community in a positive way,” says Silke.
The category includes actors Hugh Jackman and Sir Ian McKellan, singer and Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst, and Australian writer and activist Magda Szubanski.
Crusoe’s Retreat’s sponsorship will also include being a contributor to the charity raffle, which will take place on the night of the awards, for Youthline, a charity partner of the LGBTI Awards and an organisation that aims to provide guidance and support for the youth of New Zealand, particularly young members of the LGBTI community.
As part of this raffle, Crusoe’s Retreat will be offering five nights’ accommodation to the two lucky winners, including airport transfers and food during their stay.
“I’m excited by how this opportunity could work for all of us,” says Scott.
“It allows us to support both the Awards and Youthline, and gives the winners a chance to enjoy the new and improved Crusoe’s Retreat.”
